Where does Comandante come from?
From a family business near Munich. The brand was registered in 2012, and production began in 2013 with the C40 and the C20. It grew out of the Supremo roastery run by Bernd Braune.
Which models are currently available?
The C40, the C60 Baracuda, and the X25 Trailmaster. The C60 has a unibody made from a single block of steel, weighs around one kilogram, and has the largest burr set – around one gram per second for filter grinding. The X25 is the rugged outdoor version with a polymer housing.
What burr set is inside?
A conical burr set made from a special steel Comandante calls «Nitro Rex»: over 17 percent chromium, plus vanadium and molybdenum. There are several cutting geometries – Nitro Blade heptagonal, Tigershark with a double cut, and Hammerhead hexagonal for large, dense beans like Pacamara.
How big is the burr set?
Comandante doesn't state the diameter on its own site. Retailers give 39 millimetres outer and 30 millimetres inner – so this is a retailer figure, not a manufacturer figure.
How many clicks does the adjustment have?
Comandante doesn't publish that either. The manufacturer only says that the Red-Clix set halves the step size: 5 clicks becomes 10. Retailers put the step size at around 30 micrometres in standard configuration and 15 micrometres with Red Clix.
